Albums review

As a music lover, you know how important it is to find new albums to listen to, and especially how crazy they can make the internet! In this article, we want to share with you and review some of the most anticipated albums between now and the end of July!

Portugal The Man - Chris Black Changed My Life

Portugal The Man returns with a new album on June 23. The album, entitled Chris Black Changed My Life, is a tribute to their late friend Chris Black, who was their original inspiration and the band's biggest supporter.

The first single, Dummy, is, according to the singer, an ode to The Cure for all the "desperate pessimists who dance to Boys Don't 't Cry".

The Chris Black Changed My Life album will attempt to surpass the success of 2017's Woodstock, whose first single Feel It Still was certified Diamond in France.

The Weeknd - The Idol Vol. 1

The Idol series was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, and its soundtrack is by The Weeknd, who is also one of the series' main actors and writers.

On June 30, 2023, discover the album that retraces the series, the synopsis of which is given below!

Tedros (The Weeknd), a nightclub manager and impresario as strange as he is toxic, meets Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp, magnetic), a pop star going through a difficult period. He allows her to reinvent herself and make a comeback, while gradually imposing his hold on her.

Taylor Swift - Speak Now (Taylor's Version)

After her former label sold the rights to her first six albums, Taylor Swift decided to re-engage all her songs in order to reclaim her rights. On July 7, the new version of Speak Now will be released.

As with her previous reissues, Taylor Swift has kept the 14 tracks from the original album, but has also decided to add 6 previously unreleased tracks in a B-side entitled "From the vault". These include featurings with Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams (lead singer of Paramore).

"As all the songs on Speak Now are my own, I decided to contact the artists who influenced me most powerfully in terms of writing at the time, so that they would sing on the album," she explained.

Kool & The Gang - People Just Wanna Have Fun

Kool & The Gang celebrate their 60th anniversary in style: they release their 34th album in July, 14! A legend of funk and soul, the group titles their 15-song album People Just Wanna Have Fun.

The album features some of the last studio work of legendary founding musicians Ronald Bell and Dennis Thomas, who passed away in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

With this new album, Kool & The Gang offer a genuine look back at the evolution of their career, featuring a variety of genres from funk and jazz to folk and pop.
