Our tips for starting piano as an adult

Playing music as an adult is a big challenge. Indeed, with family life, work and all other activities outside of that, it is complicated to find free time to make music.


That's why I'm going to give you some advice to start playing the piano as an adult.

First of all, the major aspect to take into account is perseverance. It is the most important factor to take into account to ensure a good progression on the piano.


To do this, you can set some clear objectives for yourself to begin with. It must be precise, easy, and attainable. If your goal is too complicated, there is a good chance that you will give up, so start slowly. It is imperative that you are organized in order to see real progress.

There are bound to be times when it is harder than others to learn, but don't give up ! Anyone can do it.


The most important thing is to practice and learn from your mistakes. You don't have to fear them, on the contrary, that's how you can ensure a good progression. Take your time, there is no reason to rush.


The most basic difficulty you may face is playing with both hands. Indeed, this is often the most complicated thing when you start playing the piano. The right hand plays the melody, so it can recognize the sound, while the left hand plays the chords. So you will be more tempted to start with the right hand only. However, the left hand is essential to flesh out the piece, so give it a try, you'll get there !


Of course, there is also the music theory which can be very frustrating for many adults. Indeed, it can be complicated to play the piano without having read a score, but now, there are many youtube videos where it is possible to play the piano by looking at which notes to press.
